1st Choice Jobs is unique in that we are a family business and specialist IT Recruiter. We started in 1988, founded by our current Managing Director Bob Constant-Taylor. We are the longest serving and most trusted provider of IT Related recruitment in Kent and the South East and occasionally a bit further afield.

As you can imagine the world of IT Recruitment has changed dramatically over 32 years and we have been quick to adapt to this ever changing landscape. We focus our time and attention on IT,  as the requirements often needed for our roles covering areas such as Big Data, Software Development and Network Security are quite complex and not something that can be gleaned from a quick scan of a job spec. Our success hinges on our understanding of the requirements of both candidate and client; and not just for skills but also other important things such as cultural fit and long term career progression. We believe that It is much easier to hire and to be placed if the Recruiter speaks the same language as you.

We have been successfully recruiting for over 32 years as a company. As a team, we have over 70 years combined experience. Now that is something very unique. Our own staff turnover is very low, basically we all enjoy working here with each other, and also with our extremely loyal client and candidate base. The majority of our roles are repeat business, from clients with core values that very much align with our own. We also have a huge database of applicants gained over the years, many of whom will come back exclusively to us, as we understand their requirements and they trust us to find them a role that is an excellent fit.

Meet the team


Managing Director

Bob is the MD – He started the company 32 years ago. Originally Bob was an Officer in the Royal Airforce, upon leaving he decided that he wanted a complete change of career and thought that IT Recruitment was an exciting and emerging industry that he would love to be involved in. – So 1st Choice Jobs was born!

Bob now has over 30 years of experience in the IT recruitment industry, with many of his original clients still extremely loyal to 1st Choice.

In his spare time Bob enjoys going to the gym, walking his dog Lucy the Springer Spaniel. Also reading The Times and The Telegraph to keep abreast of current affairs.

Company Secretary

Sarah Constant-Taylor is Bob’s wife, she has a BSc Hons RGN Dip of Nursing. Sarah is a senior nurse with a degree in cancer care and doubles up as the company secretary.


Recruitment Consultant

James is our Recruitment Consultant. He joined 1st Choice in 2008 after leaving University, completing a degree in Law and Criminology.

Outside of work James enjoys travelling; having been to destinations such as Iceland, Morocco and Croatia.
He also enjoys cycling and photography.



Sarah is a Resourcer and Administrator. She joined 1stChoice in 2009 after a career break to have her two boys.

Sarah has a Business degree, is a CIPD member and previously worked in Human Capital consulting – working with I.T. companies across the world. She also worked as a Test Analyst at a Big 4 accountancy firm and has run several local charities.

In her spare time she loves to cook, read and watch SciFi/Fantasy and beautify her garden. She is also a grammar and spelling fanatic so always has that red pen ready!


New Business Executive

Jo has been with 1stChoice for just over 6 years joining us after a varied career covering Customer Services and New Business Development.

Jo is a machine on the phone! Always positive and happy she enjoys keeping in contact with our many existing clients and also discussing requirements and onboarding new clients.

Don’t accept a cup of tea from Jo! Her tea making skills leave room for much improvement! When not at work Jo loves reading, spending time with her children and cleaning her house! – Yes Jo really does love cleaning!
